Summary
What is a Trademark?
A trademark allows businesses to distinguish themselves and their products from the competition. This can include your company name, a slogan, a logo, or even the distinctive way your product is packaged (also known as Trade Dress).
What are the Advantages of Trademark Registration?
Once your trademark is registered, anyone in the United States who uses your trademark is presumed to know that your trademark is registered. Otherwise, they would be able to use your trademark and possibly keep you from expanding your use.
You will also be able to sue those who use your trademark in federal court and may be able to use the registration in disputes over website domain names. You can also file it with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency which can help in stopping importation of infringing goods.
How much does it cost?
LLG offers some of the most affordable flat and hourly rates to both register and enforce your trademark.
In September 2017, Hurricane Harvey ravaged the Houston area. The toll it took on lives and property was unimaginable. At that time, LLG was a new firm with only a handful of employees. Once founding partners Brian and April realized all of their friends and employees were safe, they decided to close the LLG office for as long as necessary so they could focus on helping those impacted by Harvey. LLG spent seven days removing debris, tearing down walls, ripping out carpet/insulation, and doing anything else the property owners needed.
This experience had an incredible impact on their lives, personally and professionally. So much so that LLG now dedicates the Friday before every Labor Day to giving back to the local community. The LLG Houston office closes, and all LLG employees gather for the LLG Annual Day of Giving. For more information on the volunteer work performed in 2018, check out the News section.

Broker made special appearance contesting jurisdiction. The 151st District Court, Harris County denied special appearance. Broker appealed. The Court of Appeals, Yates, J., held that: (1) broker had sufficient minimum contacts with state to warrant specific jurisdiction; (2) broker had systemic and continuous contacts with forum state to support general jurisdiction; and (3) exercise of jurisdiction over broker did not offend tradional notions of fair play and substantial justice.
