Tonie Mitchell joined Lopez Law Group as an Associate Attorney in the Fall of 2024. Before joining the firm, she worked as a Senior Claims Specialist at a leading insurance company, where she was responsible for handling complex employment practice liability matters. In this role, Tonie conducted detailed analyses of administrative and civil complaints, guided clients through intricate claims processes, and consistently advocated for efficient cost-effective settlements.

Tonie earned her Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2017. She was recognized for her academic excellence, earning Dean’s List honors, and receiving the Nussbaum Public Interest Fellowship Award. During her time in law school, she served as Vice President of Outreach for the Black Law Students Association, interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, and interned with the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Before law school, Tonie graduated magna cum laude from Oakwood University, an HBCU in Huntsville, Alabama, with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law Political Science.
